Gareth spent the night on the couch watching a marathon re-airing of a reality show about a couple boating around some islands. It followed the ins and outs of learning to navigate around rocks and reefs and dealing with the mysteries of tides and currents. He found himself shuddering and wincing as the stars of the show bounced their large and expensive motor cruiser off various docks and other boats. Why anyone, he thought to himself, would want to drive a giant half-million–dollar boat in and amongst other people’s million-dollar boats and think it was fun was beyond him. He’d rather sit here on his couch or go for a walk in the nice safe park.

He did enjoy the episode that featured the otters. They kinda reminded him of the beaver. Where was the beaver right now, he wondered. “And,” he muttered out loud, “where the hell is my lemon tree? Stupid rodent thief!”
