To power, which we all seek and to peace which we all abhor.

The world is a wonderful place
the animal and plants so free
But man has no god-given right
to destroy all that it can see

Of his own existence he cares not
and only in death can he see
what a terrifying mess of
what he does to the world can be

As if his pain and tribulations
are not enough penance to pay
He plods along destroying
and for forgiveness, to god he prays

Why is his life so pitiful
What is his reason for pain
Man never wanted good fortune
and on this world’s peace there is a stain

He has never contributed to good
but has taken all that he can
From something god has created
We are left with a blight called Man

To rid the world of its horror
to bring back peace and good will
What has to be done to hope
that someday death will have its fill.

And then maybe a new life
With peace and tranquility for all
will emerge in our now shattered creation
And man can stand proud & tall

So work at your love and compassion
Discard all the greed & the pain
Collect your thoughts about you
to make new that which is insane

Wow. 19-year old me was pretty morbid.
