Final Citadel show of the season is Mr Shakeapeare’s As You Like It. I wonder if this will be someone’s twisted flight of fancy or some straight up Elizabethan comedy?

Chris Wynter (of Captain Tractor fame) is in it although his part is small and John Kirkpatrick is making the evening worthwhile. All in all I’ll give it a few stars…

Our friend Darrel Soetaert’s graduation recital is tonight. He started his schooling in violin but was convinced to switch to viola.

A little bit of Schubert, a little bit of Bach. Should be good if the hoodlums I’m with keep it down 😉

Despite all my conniving, Leslie has managed to drag me off to the Citadel’s Glass Menagerie. AND at the last moment informed me it’s one of Tom Wood’s productions. I’ve had a hate on for Mr Woods since forever, but what he did to Chekov (Uncle Vanya) was the last straw.

So to recap: seen the play too many times; Tom Wood sucks; I’ve been played for a fool.

Oh, and it stars Fiona Reid. Who is the female Gordon Pinset… all Canadian, all the time. And I mean ALL the time… everywhere, like a rash, only bigger and more annoying.

But it’ll probably be fine. Really.

I scored some tickets to Northlands Skybox. Last game and the Oilers are off their feed.

But a great experience anyway.

Last dance show of the year. Litz Alfonso Dance Cuba ‘Elementos’ at the Arden. Live Cuban band, so it should be lively anyway.

Well turns out I didn’t like. Reminded me of something halfway between a dance recital and a cruise ship show. Blech.

The second of the Brian Webb Dance series tickets Leslie picked up. Wen Wei Dance performance of Cock-Pit at the Timms.

Awesome.

Suzanne Vega tonight at the Arden in St Albert. Acoustic guitar and a bass but the songs run pretty true to my aural expectations.

Henry Kriesel Lecture series featuring Eden Robinson at the Timms. Lots of old professors and 18 year olds. Sigh.

At the Citadel enjoying Sweeny Todd by Sondheim. Unexpectedly good and not stuffed with the usual crowd of ‘patrons of the arts.’

Theatre Network’s performance of Thunderstick starring Lorne Cardinal of Corner Gas and Craig Lauzon of the Air Farce.
